Be careful with moveable soccer goalposts

As part of its role in enforcing Australian Standards to ensure the safety of consumers when using certain types of products, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a reminder to parents, teachers and coaches about the dangers of moveable soccer goalposts.

In its recent press release, the ACCC refers to the deaths and injuries associated with the soccer goalposts, such as trauma to the head, neck, chest and limbs when the goalposts fall over.

A step-by-step guide and the video demonstrating how to anchor, check and respect soccer goals is available at www.productsafety.gov.au/soccergoals
